Feedstock

KiOR’s feedstock strategy emphasizes the use of sustainable, non-food biomass for conversion into its renewable fuels. 

Sustainable: KiOR is focused on using feedstocks that are abundantly available with supplies that can be sustained at a relatively consistent level for the long term. 

Non-food: KiOR intends to use non-food sources of feedstock, such as wood and forestry residuals, while avoiding feedstocks such as corn or soy which are also used for food or are grown on land typically used for food production

KiOR’s technology platform is feedstock flexible, meaning it is able to convert a wide variety of biomass into renewable fuels. KiOR will use Southern Yellow Pine as the primary feedstock in its first commercial facilities in Mississippi, due its low cost, stable pricing and abundance in the Southeastern U.S.
