A key driver of advancement of KiOR’s technology is improving yields of renewable fuel blendstocks from biomass. Since the initial founding of the company, KiOR has been able to achieve significant improvements in its yields of gasoline, diesel and fuel oil blendstocks from biomass. KiOR’s catalyst development team has worked to improve yields by developing and testing many potential catalyst formulations on the laboratory, pilot and demonstration unit scales at KiOR’s headquarters.
This success along with thousands of hours of operational experience has led KiOR to efficiently scale up from the pilot plant to where we are today in Columbus. Natchez will be three times larger than Columbus with the ability to process 1,500 bone dry tons of biomass per day and produce 40 million gallons of fuel per year.
